Split ends are a well-known hair foe, and with so many causes, it’s no wonder that we’ve all dealt with them at one time or another.
Before we talk about how to prevent them, we need to delve into how split ends come about.
Environment
As with everything, our hair is affected by our environment.
Changing seasons means that we need to adapt the way we care for our hair as the sun, wind, and other environmental factors can damage hair.
Using heat protectant sprays in hot weather and products that give your hair lots of hydration in the winter are perfect examples of this.
Styling
We love styling our hair as much as the next person, but with a lot of styling comes heat.
Consistent use of tools like hairdryers, curlers, and straighteners can damage hair, causing split ends.
Processes like colouring and bleaching can also have the same effect, as well as a lot of wearing tight hairstyles like ponytails, buns and braids.

How to Prevent Split Ends
Before we even so much as see a split end, there are a few ways we can prevent them from coming about.
