In a society of vanity, beauty and the fight against ageing, maturing hair and skin can be a hard subject to broach. It can often be a taboo subject amongst the aging generation. Resulting in people feeling alone and confused with which angle to take. Female maturing hair can be anything from age 40+ that may need a little more TLC and Give Me is here to help.
There are many different ways to take care of mature hair starting from specific nutritious diets and supplements and ending with tailored hair products to help embrace your natural aging beauty.
In some cases, female mature hair can be drier and brittle as their estrogen levels decrease through time, this is also where coarse grey hairs are often produced from. As this can be a sensitive subject especially for those who experience menopause younger than expected, we wanted to make a little grey self care guide to make sure you are embracing going grey gracefully!
To start with the basics, make sure your diet contains lots of vitamins and minerals like biotin which is a form of Vitamin B7. This is found in lots of day to day foods including eggs, fish and even potatoes! Biotin can also be taken in the form of a vitamin tablet or supplement as well as other hair, skin and nail vitamins which may help target the mature hair from within.
Most hairdressers and medical professionals will recommend regular hair cuts as well as shaping and reducing any dead ends. Now mature hair can often grow slower so if you wanted to reduce the appearance of split ends we can help combat the need for regular trims by using our Hair Repair Cream which will bond together split ends with extracts of wheat and corn protein as well as those all important vitamins B3 & B5.
Limiting heat is ideal for all hair but especially for mature hair as it can be more fragile and damage easily. If you are wanting to use heat we recommend to use it once per each wash to allow your hair to rehydrate in between uses. When using heat we insist that you use a heat protectant spray as this is a crucial part of protecting your hair. Heat protectant up to 230 degrees is the way to care for your hair as this is like a protective film.
As greying hair tends to be a coarser texture and increasingly more brittle, strands absorb more moisture so the use of hydrating hair products is a must. Including oils such as Coconut, Argan and Castor in your routine will help revive soft, smooth and silky hair when battling the perils of grey hair. Adding moisture back into dry and brittle hair will help them flourish and using Give Me. products is the easiest and most cost-effective way to do this.

For thinning hair we have our Clarifying Scalp Scrub and Scalp Exfoliating Brush which helps to stimulate your scalp and encourage more growth. It also removes product build-up and dead skin cells which could lead to blockage in the follicles. We recommend using this once a week to work into the scalp and get the blood flowing right to the root! We also recommend using either our Mango & Passionfruit Range or Coconut Oil & Aloe Vera range as whilst these are still incredibly hydrating for the brittle hair, it is a lightweight formula.
