The Journey of Pride: A Look Back
Looking back on the history of Pride, we have come so far. The UK and the rest of the world have faced controversies and discrimination, which has thankfully become a thing of the past. The first Pride march in the UK took place in 1972 in London, with only 2,000 attendees. This was a ground-breaking event that laid the foundation for future celebrations and the fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
Liverpool celebrated their first Pride in 2010 with a city-wide celebration and over 20,000 attendees. This party has grown, and this year it will be celebrated on July 27, 2024 . Events like these show how Pride has evolved from a small protest to a large-scale celebration of identity and freedom.
